TRAVEL PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE


What is this product about?

This policy provides compensation and reimbursement for people travelling local/overseas in the event of injuries, disability, or death caused solely by violent, accidental, external and visible events during the trip.

Travel Personal Accident Insurance policy can be categorized into two main types:-

  1. Travel Personal Accident – for individual travelers, providing coverage in case of an accident that leads to injury, disability, or death during the trip.
  2. Group Travel Personal Accident Insurance – for groups of travelers, such as a family, team, or employees on a business trip, ensuring that all members within the group are covered for accidental injuries or fatalities during the journey.

What are the covers / benefits provided?

Section A – Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement

  • The Company will pay to the Insured or his legal representative the Sum Insured specified below if he sustains any bodily injury caused by accidental external and visible means which injury independent of any other cause shall result his:

    Benefits
    a) Death 100% of Capital Sum Insured
    b) Injuries resulting in being permanently bedridden 100% of Capital Sum Insured
    c) Loss of two limbs or of two eyes 100% of Capital Sum Insured
    d) Loss of one limb and one eye 100% of Capital Sum Insured
    e) Loss of one limb or of one eye 50% of Capital Sum Insured
  • Repatriation Expenses:

  • Reimbursement up to 10% of Capital Sum Insured or USD 1,500.00, whichever is lower, for the cost incurred in respect of conveyance of Insured Person’s mortal remains back to his/her home in Cambodia.

Section B - Hospitalization Benefits (Optional Cover)
  • When the Insured Person is hospitalized as a result of an accidental injury or sickness which is contracted and commenced during the Period of Insurance, the Company will indemnify the Insured on the actual hospital expenses incurred subject to the maximum limit of this Benefit.

    • Surgical Benefit
    • In-Hospital Doctor’s Visits
    • Emergency Accidental Outpatient Benefit
    • Post Hospitalisation / Surgical Treatment
    • Each hospital confinement must be for a minimum 6 consecutive hours before any benefit hereunder is payable.
    • Outpatient treatment for accidental injury – 50% of Benefit Limit.
    • Section B will pay for benefits based on actual, necessary and reasonable expenses incurred by the Insured Person but shall not exceed the maximum benefit insured as stated in the Schedule for the whole duration of the journey.
Section C – Baggage (Optional Cover)
  • To indemnify the Insured Person for the market value or cost of repairs of baggage, whichever is the lesser amount against risks of accidental loss or damage.
    Maximum Sum Insured for baggage: up to USD 5,000.00
  • Conditions:

    • The Company will pay up to a maximum value of USD 500.00 per article.
    • An excess of USD100.00 each and every loss which will be borne by the Insured Person.

What is the subject matter insured?

Covers any bodily injury, disability or death caused solely and directly by violent, accidental external and visible means resulting in the death or permanent disablement or necessitate medical and/or surgical treatment of the Insured person.


Period of Insurance

Duration of cover is the whole duration of the trip.


How much premium do I have to pay?

The premium you have to pay may vary depending on the sum insured, choice of cover, destination, the duration of journey, past loss history and our underwriting requirements.


What is the payment mode and how do I pay the premium?

This is a short period policy based on the duration of your trip and you may pay your premium in full either in cash or by cheque or bank transfer on or before the effective date of this Policy or endorsed hereafter.


What are some of the key terms and conditions that I should be aware of?

  • Duty of disclosure
    - You must give all the facts which you know or ought to know.
    - You must ensure that the proposal form is completed accurately as it forms the basis of the insurance contract.
  • Duration of Cover
    Insurance coverage shall start when the Insured Person leaves his place of residence in Cambodia to commence his journey and shall continue until the time of return from his journey to such place of residence in Cambodia provided this entire time period falls within the Period of Insurance. The coverage provided is Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement, Hospitalization Benefits (Optional) and Baggage (Optional).
  • Automatic Extension of Period of Insurance
    If the Insured Person does not complete the journey within the Period of Insurance due to unforeseen delay or interruption of public transports service which is entirely beyond the Insured Person’s control, the Period of Insurance shall be extended automatically for such further period as may be reasonably necessary for completion of the journey, subject to a maximum extension of 5 days from the original expiry date.
  • Claims Notification
    - In the event of a claim, you must notify us as soon as reasonably possible, but no later than 30 days from the date of the accident.
    - You must submit the claim documents to us within 30 days from the date of the loss or such further time as we may in writing allow.

What are the exclusions under this policy?

Specific Exclusions to Section A – Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement

  1. No compensation stated in the above shall be payable unless the death or loss takes place within 365 days after the date of the Bodily Injury.

Specific Exclusions to Section B – Hospitalization Benefits

  1. No benefits shall be payable with respect to any period of hospital confinement unless the entire confinement and all the special hospital services so rendered and performed had been recommended and approved by a Registered Medical Practitioner and in accordance with the diagnosis and treatment of the condition for which the hospital confinement was required.
  2. No benefit shall be paid for the following services, products and conditions:-
    • Pre-existing conditions.
    • Congenital anomalies or physical defects present at birth.
    • Dental examination, filling, extraction including removal of impacted tooth and general dental care.
    • Outpatient physiotherapy treatment, procurement or use of special braces, appliances or equipment.
    • For eye glasses, contact lens or for the examinations for prescribing them or fitting them.
    • For preventive care including routine physical examinations.
    • Drug addiction or alcoholism; communicable diseases requiring isolation by law or quarantine in the event of an epidemic, special nursing care.
    • Injuries due to insanity or self-infliction.
    • Treatment for obesity, weight reduction or weight improvement.
    • Treatment to improve the psychological, mental or emotional well-being of the insured person.
    • Cosmetic or plastic surgery; non-medical personal services such as telephone.
    • Hospital confinement or treatment relating to birth control or infertility; pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, or any complications resulting from pregnancy.
    • Any illness, disability, injury or any condition or complications, AIDS/HIV or any related disease.
Specific Exclusions to Section C – Baggage
  • Jewellery, watches, cash, traveller’s cheques, document and securities.
  • Loss or damage to baggage occurring during the journey unless:
    • The baggage was in the custody of a Common Carrier or Hotel when the loss or damage occurred;
    • The loss or damage was first reported to and a claim was made against the operator of the Common Carrier or Hotel;
    • The operator of the Common Carrier or Hotel refuses to compensate for the loss or damage to baggage; and
    • There is proof of such rejection from the operator of the Common Carrier or Hotel.
  • Any item whilst in the custody of a Common Carrier, unless reported immediately upon discovery and, in the case of an Airline, a Property Irregularity Report is obtained.
  • Goods traded in the course of business, samples, foodstuff and consumable items (e.g. food, beverage, medicine).
  • Loss or damage caused by normal wear and tear, gradual deterioration, moths, vermin, inherent vice, mechanical or electrical breakdown or derangement, or by Insured Person’s actions in attempts to repair, clean, or alter the property.
  • Theft losses not reported to the police where the incident took place within twenty four (24) hours of the occurrence of the loss or damage.
  • Loss or theft of property left Unattended in a public place or in an Unattended vehicle unless stored completely out of view in the trunk of the vehicle, the vehicle is fully locked with all windows shut at the time of the incident and there is visible proof of forced entry.
  • Loss of or damage to any item arising from the confiscation or detention by Customs or other Officials.
  • Any item that is insured under any other insurance, or otherwise reimbursed in full by a Common Carrier or a Hotel or any other source.
  • Loss of any item that could have been avoided by taking due care and precautions.
  • Baggage that is sent in advance, mailed or shipped separately.
  • Any item that is loaned, rented or hired.
  • The willful acts, omission, negligence or carelessness of the Insured.
  • Unexplained and mysterious disappearance of baggage or personal effects.
  • Loss or theft of any property as a result of the Insured’s failure to take due care and precautions for the safeguard and security of such property.

General Exclusions

This policy does not cover:

  • War, Invasion, Act of Foreign Enemy, Hostilities (whether war be declared or not), Civil War, Rebellion Revolution Military or Usurped Power.
  • Ionising radiations or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel, waste, fission or weapons.
  • The Insured Person travelling in or entering or descending from any aircraft except as a fare paying passenger in a fully licensed standard passenger carrying aircraft.
  • Any accident occurring whilst the Insured Person is taking part in any occupation or employment or in Hunting, Steeplechasing, Polo, Mountaineering, Wintersports, Hang-gliding, Sky-diving or Racing, Bungee Jumping or any hazardous activities.
  • Suicide or attempted suicide (whether felonious or not) or willful exposure to needless peril except in an attempt to save human life.
  • Any accident occurring whilst the Insured Person is in a state of insanity or is under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug not prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner.
  • Pregnancy or Childbirth or suffering from bodily injury due to a gradually operating cause.
  • An act of terrorism means any act, including but not limited to the use of force or violence and/or the threat thereof, of any person or group(s) of persons, whether acting alone or on behalf of or in connection with any organization(s) or government(s), committed for political, religious, ideological or similar purposes including the intention to influence any government and/or to put the public, or any section of the public in fear.

What are the pre-acceptance conditions for this product?

  • No claims for the past 3 years.
  • Insured has never been declined, cancelled or refused coverage previously.
  • The age of Insured Person is between 18 to 65 years old and from physical infirmity.

Can I cancel my policy?

This Policy is non-cancellable except for the reason which cancellation is by mutual consents between the Insured and the Insurer before the policy commences. The Insured is allowed to entitle a refund of the premium less 10% administration charge provided no claims have been made during the current policy period.


No refund of premium is allowed once the policy has commenced.
